Tigers with a Purpose – Reaching Out to Metro Atlanta & Beyond

The Atlanta Auburn Club is the proud recipient of the Auburn Alumni Association’s national award for Community Service in each of the past three years----2005, 2004, and 2003. These awards recognize the Atlanta club’s commitment to a variety of outreach efforts in our community.

In addition to raising funds for scholarships, the AAC regularly participates in a number of community service projects and supports a variety of local charitable organizations in the Atlanta area. Among these are: Georgia Public Broadcasting, The Atlanta Food Bank, Dream House for Medically Fragile Children, the Marine Corps’ Toys For Tots program, the 3 Dimensional Life in Gainesville, GA, the Atlanta Union Mission, and AIDS Walk Atlanta.

The Atlanta Auburn Club also founded “Operation War Eagle” to send care packages, letters, messages and emails to Tiger Troops & U.S. Forces deployed in Iraq, Afghanistan and around the world. Contact us at: operationwareagle@atlantaauburnclub.org.

AAC Joins Rally Foundation to Raise Funds for Children's Cancer Research
4 Quarters 4 Research Project Starts Now - So Start Saving Your Change!!

Have you ever wondered what to do with that spare change you always have in your pockets, the bottom of your purse, or under the seats in your car? Well, that change can actually change lives!

This year, The Atlanta Auburn Club is joining together with Rally Foundation to help raise money for children's cancer research through the group's popular 4 Quarters 4 Research -- a program that has garnered participation from more than 140 schools.

The foundation, founded by Auburn alum Dean Crowe, has one mission: to raise awareness and funds through grass roots initiatives. Rally gives 100% of its net proceeds to fund all phases of childhood cancer research. It helps fund the collaborative research of more than 5,000 physicians, scientists and nurses at 200 hospitals nationwide. These physicians and nurses treat more than 90% of the children in the U.S. with cancer. Eighty percent of these children are enrolled in clinical trials.

The first child helped? William Olson, from Cobb County, who at the age of 14 was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. Today, Will is a student at Auburn University.

Beginning in June, the AAC will be distributing special ziploc bags and postcards at all our events, including the golf tournament and Young Alum events. If you won't be there -- no worries, just use any Ziploc bag.

What do you do? Save your spare quarters, nickels, dimes and pennies! Then, bring it with you to our Annual Kickoff Event with Coach Tuberville on Tuesday, July 15. Adults...children...everyone can participate! Rally Foundation, which includes the involvement of a lot of Auburn alumni, will be with us that evening.

It is our hope that this effort will be the start of an ongoing community service project for the AAC. Metro area Tigers can also help spread the word, by encouraging their local schools and/or places of employment to hold their own 4 Quarters fundraisers.
